This book is a biography of the late Linus Pauling, a man of conspicuous talents and boundless energy, who was considered by many to be the "American Cowboy" of science. Using letters, documents, and many interviews with Pauling's contemporaries, author Anthony Serafini takes the reader through the many facets of Pauling's life, including his student days and early triumphs in chemistry to his controversial later work on nutrition and Vitamin C. Anthony Serafini is assistant professor of philosophy and religion at Centenary College. He has written and published a wide variety of technical and popular pieces in many magazines and journals including Omni, Science and Mechanics, and Sports Afield.
