THE LEADER WITHIN will help the reader gain knowledge of his or her inner life in order to become a person who can lead others. Leaders learn what they tend to do as leaders and why they do it, enabling them to change, grow, and become better leaders.

Personality governs, to a large extent, how an individual will act and react as a leader over time. How someone acts and reacts is more a result of patterned inner thoughts than what may be needed to be effective in a given situation. The "requirements" of a situation are often not met because the leader acts in ways that meet their inner needs rather than in ways that will be effective and helpful for those being lead. People do not willingly follow leaders who do not serve them. Leaders who do not know themselves cannot know and serve others.

This book is the result of many years of research, training, and consulting with thousands of business leaders. The book's analysis and conclusions are based on a 7-year, international, in-depth statistical study of what influences behaviors of business executives. For the sake of readability, the statistics are not included, but they support the firm belief that good leadership starts from the inside.
